How to respond to messages

Messages are chat threads you can exchange with your accountant securely

  • You can use messages when you need to ask something to your accountant and your accountant can use messages to request sensitive information that might not be appropriate to send over email

  • All message threads are stored in the "Messages & Task" section and can be review anytime

    Two ways to start creating new message

    • Click the "New Chat" link from the dashboard under right of your home page

    • By going to the "Messages & Task" section and click the "New Chat" link

    CREATING NEW MESSAGE FROM THE SLIDE OUTSIDE BAR

  • Put a Subject

  • Write down your message

  • Formatting, bullets, numbered list and emoticons can be applied

  • You can also add documents either from your computer or from TaxDome

  • Click the "Create Chat" button

  • Your preparer will receive an email informing them that they have a pending message from you

  • Once you have a new message you will get an email notification as well

  • You will also see a notification in your Dashboard (Home Page)

  • Inside the active tab of your "Messages & Task" section, chat are sorted chronologically by most recent response

  • On the left side of the page, a list display's the information about the last response’s Time, Author, Subject and Status of Client Tasks for each threads if there's any.

  • The unread threads have a green badge next to them indicating the number of unread messages.

TO VIEW THE UNREAD MESSAGES

  • Click the message title to read it

  • Type in your response from the message field

  • Click SEND

  • Your preparer may ask you to upload documents that are needed for Tax Preparation

  • You can add files that have been uploaded to TaxDome previously or you can upload files from your computer

  • you can also view and download any of the files that have been shared within the message

  • Once the Accountant has received all the required information they need to continue their work for you, they can move the message to “Archive”

  • If you like to review those messages, simply click the "Archived" tab
